QKR Stampede Challenge #222 Christmas Cards

QKR Stampede has a new challenge and this week the challenge is  "Christmas Cards."   This week I did several cards each using the embossing folders and Merry Christmas greeting, then changed up the card until I got the look I wanted. The tree is cut using a die from Marianne Design & the oval is cut using a Spellbinders die. The embossing folders are Cuttlebug for the dots and Design Objectives for the die-angle  stitched look. I started out with this all white look and it was ok but I wasn't thrilled, so I moved on to the second try.
This is the same as the first card with just a little different light so you could see the embossing and shimmer better. The paper is white it must be the reflection off my red shirt that gave it the pink glow.
This is the second try and all that is changed on this card is the addition of the red ribbon and bow. Still I thought it could look better so I tried again.

This is the card I decided I liked the best. This time I changed the red to gold and the shimmer on the tree is now done using gold   Stickles. I also put Stickles on the greeting. It didn't photograph well but it does look good in person.

QKR Stampede Challenge #221 Non-Traditional Christmas Colors

QKR Stampede has a new challenge and this week the challenge is  "Non-Traditional Christmas Colors."  I have colored 11001 Poinsettia with colored pencils and cut out the poinsettia with a white outline. I choose a pink and gray color scheme and found a gray print that I think works great. The Merry Christmas is cut using a die from Poppystamps from the same dark gray card stock as the dark layer. To finish the flower I added some oyster gray Nuvo Drops.

Simple Christmas Cards

Here are a few more of the Christmas cards I have been working on. These use the Merry Christmas Script die from Poppystamps and the Happy Holly Corner die from Memory Box. I did them in a gray & mint green, burgundy & cream, and burgundy & white.  Most of the cards I used only the outside line area of the holly and added it to each card along with the words.

On the card on the right side in this photo I used the negative space for the card front. I place my dies in the area I wanted them and used a small piece of removable tape ran them through the big shot and then pulled the die cut away and glued the small areas of the words where they should be and the holly outline was removed and the leaves and circles are left. You can see the lines on the leaves if you look closely.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Poinsettia Christmas Cards

Here are a couple more Christmas cards and I have used the  Merry Christmas die from a Tim Holtz holiday words set from Sizzix and the Poinsettia Die from Sue Wilson. For the first version I added the die cut to the card stock and and for the second version I cut the dies from my red card stock and let the white card stock show through. Except for the single images I carefully cut from the strip of poinsettias.

You know me and how I love to cut everything. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

More Christmas Cards

I have another assortment of Christmas cards, these are made using mostly the same dies and just changed the papers I used. The Jingle Bells are from Lil Inkers, the pine branch is from from Impression Obsession, and the Merry Christmas is from a Tim Holtz holiday words set from Sizzix. The papers are all leftovers from previous years. Then I have added some fine gold cord for the bells to hang from. This first card the bells are cut from gold yardstick. The papers are a muted red layers on a crumb cake card stock.

This card has a cream and bluegreen snowflake paper and is also layered on crumb cake card stock, and the bells are a textured cream card stock that I love. It is a heavy weight and has a shine and texture on it. I wish I could remember where I bought it because I could definitely use more of it.

This last version I have used a sand colored card stock with more muted red papers. The die on this card is the pine bough from Die Namites that I cut into 2 sections so I used half of it on this card. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Christmas Cards

Since breaking my kneecap I have not been able to sit in my card making area for over a month, (I was having withdrawl symptoms) and now that it is almost healed I am able to sit for a while without my brace so I have been busy making Christmas Cards and I have a couple to show you today. Lately I have loved using just a touch of gold and this card has gold for the letters of joy and the music is printed in gold. I used the Joy die set from Sue Wilson. It is so pretty. The paper is from a Recollections Christmas pad left over from a couple of years ago when I wasn't into so much gold.

For this version I used the same die and used burgundy card stock below the letters and again in the layer beneath the white layer. I have a difficult time when photographing white cards, even with my light box it has an off white color. Thanks for looking and have a great day

Yesterday would have been her 89th birthday, she was a wonderful woman and she has been gone almost 2 years now and is very missed. Eureka Stamps has a new challenge and this week it's "Things With Wings."  I have very little coloring again since my printed is acting up and printing so dark I keep smearing my Copic markers.Any ideas to help me with my printer would be greatly appreciated. But I used this great image 2005 Large Dragonfly  and sprayed it with Heidi Swap paints & Glimmer Mist to give it some shine. Then it is cut out and layered on cardstock that was cut out using a SU die and then ran through embossing folders also by SU for the texture. The body of the dragonfly has a small piece of trim adhered and then covered with enamel accents to give it extra dimension. The eye area has another glob of enamel accents added. The flowers are the $1 paper ones from the Michael's Store and I spritzed them with the same colors as the dragonfly and added a gem to the one. The greeting was made using a die from Cheery Lynn. I won a gift certificate from Cheery Lynn and this is one of the dies I chose , & I love it and use it often.

I printed on a sheer ribbon, it's readable but it's faint, and then to get the embossing and the faint print to show in the photo, the color is very off. It is actually bight white.  The wedding cake is embossed using a folder from Darice and I added some flowers and pearls for a quick & easy card. I
